ben kaya is an american, brussels based composer, producer and performer. his work primarily is concerned with simplicity, limitation and repetition, using long durations, repetitive motifs and a focus on textural sound and visuals to break a natural and perceived order and highlight specific social phenomenon.

his compositions often include the use of microtonality, electronics in combination with acoustic instrumentation, programming and acoustic phenomenon. using shapes and free flowing form as a compositional tool for the structure of harmonic relationships in space.

among sound he also works with light, projection and physical materials in installation, collaborative performance and dance works that carry a similar ethos to his sound practice.

  ben achieved a bachelors from california institute of the arts in 2025 and is currently pursuing a masters in composition from koninklijk conservatorium brussel. he has held residency with 25av, la bellone, the reef, bodies in space, in situ and budascoop, among others. his work has been shown in venues internationally and played by international ensembles and solo performers.
